The Angel of Divine Contemplation, Knowledge, and Inner Silence
Nanael is the 53rd Guardian Angel, a prominent member of the choir of Principalities. His divine name means 'God who humbles the Proud.' Combining the beauty and love of Venus with the absolute consciousness of the Sun, Nanael is the great angel of deep spirituality, mystical contemplation, and esoteric study.
Nanael detests noise, vanity, and the sterile agitation of the world. He is the angel of monasteries, sacred libraries, and spiritual retreats. He inspires theologians, philosophers, seekers of truth, and grants them the ability to understand the most obscure texts and the mysteries of Creation.
Those born under his influence often have a solitary, contemplative temperament, endowed with great intellectual depth. They love sacred music, silent nature, and feel a visceral need to regularly withdraw from the world to recharge spiritually.
In love, Nanael is not satisfied with a superficial or purely carnal relationship. He seeks the union of two minds and two souls. He favors relationships based on intellectual communication, respect, and the pursuit of a common spiritual ideal.
If your relationship suffers from too much external noise (influences from friends, family, work stress), invoking Nanael will create a 'bubble' of peace and silence around the couple, allowing them to reconnect in intimacy.
He helps singles find peace in their solitude, thus attracting a serene partner.
He is the patron saint of teachers, professors, magistrates, clergy, librarians, and historians. He grants noble and structured eloquence, ideal for imparting knowledge.
If you need to take a difficult exam, write a thesis, or understand a very complex file, Nanael will give you the clarity of mind and concentration of a monk.
He protects you from petty corporate politics and the destructive pride of certain superiors.
The energy of Nanael acts powerfully on the central nervous system and the brain (the cortex). He is excellent for healing mental fatigue, tension headaches, and for slowing down brain activity (favoring Alpha and Theta waves).
He also helps regulate hearing problems, as esoterically, deafness is often linked to the refusal to hear divine truth (or to an excess of surrounding noise).
Spiritually, Nanael is the master of Inner Silence (Hesychasm). He teaches that God does not speak in tumult, but in the 'voice of profound silence.'
He allows one to pierce the secrets of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and grants access to Higher Knowledge without passing through the intellectual ego. Under Nanael's influence, the seeker no longer reads sacred texts; he lives them.
In the Tree of Life, Nanael connects Netzach (Venus) to Tiphereth (the Sun). He elevates the emotion of love (Venus) to divine consciousness (the Sun), transforming human love into mystical adoration.
His name evokes the humbling of pride. In Kabbalah, pride is the shell (Qlipha) that prevents Light from penetrating the mind. By breaking this shell, Nanael allows true Knowledge to flow freely.
Angel Nanael, Master of Silence and Guardian of Divine Knowledge,
I invoke you that your deep peace may descend upon my agitated mind.
Grant me the inner silence necessary to hear the voice of my soul.
Illuminate my intelligence, so that I may understand the mysteries of the Universe,
And grant me the wisdom to impart this knowledge with humility and love.
Protect me from pride, vanity, and the illusions of the material world,
So that I may contemplate your Light for eternity.
Amen.
