Hexagram 18The Work on What is Corrupted
Upper : Mountain (Gen) - ☶Lower : Wind (Xun) - ☴
"The work on what is corrupted achieves sublime success. It is advantageous to cross the great waters. Before the point of departure, three days. After the point of departure, three days."
The wind blows at the foot of a mountain but cannot pass: the air stagnates and becomes corrupted. This hexagram indicates a situation where past errors (often inherited from parents or ancestors) have tainted the environment. It is time to roll up one's sleeves and cleanse the toxins. This requires reflection before acting (3 days before) and vigilant observation after the action (3 days after).
"The wind blows at the foot of the mountain: the image of corruption. Thus the noble man stirs the people and fortifies their spirit."
To overcome stagnation, one must breathe a new wind, awaken consciousness, and dare to confront what reeks.
This is the very essence of Shadow Work and psychogenealogy. You are confronted with neuroses, traumas, or destructive patterns that are not necessarily yours, but those of your parents (corruption inherited from the father or mother). The work consists of bringing these repressed phantoms into the light of consciousness to liberate oneself from them. It is a difficult task, but it promises radical healing and newfound freedom.
It is the process of reversing entropy through the injection of information. An error has crept into the system's code or DNA, causing repeated glitches. The Work on corruption is a targeted action of consciousness (the Observer) to correct quantum noise, cleanse interferences, and restore the purity of the original signal.
