Hexagram 13Friendship (Community with Men)
Upper : Heaven (Qian) - ☰Lower : Fire (Li) - ☲
"Community with men in the open: success. It is advantageous to cross the great waters. The perseverance of the noble man is advantageous."
Fire (clarity, consciousness) burns beneath the open sky, illuminating all. This is the image of a social organization founded on universal principles, transparency, and the common good, rather than on secret cliques. In this clarity, bold enterprises (crossing the waters) undertaken collectively will succeed.
"Heaven associated with fire: the image of community with men. Thus the noble man distributes the tribes and classifies things."
Universality is not an indistinct magma. For the community to function, clarity (fire) is needed to recognize the rightful place of each individual and each thing under heaven.
This hexagram signifies a major opening to the collective. On the Jungian plane, it is the conscious connection to the Collective Unconscious: you realize that your personal struggles and hopes are the same as those of all humanity. Emerge from the isolation of your ego. Connect with others authentically, without wearing a social mask. True friendship is born from shared light.
This is the metaphor of the Holographic Principle: each fragment of the universe contains the information of the whole (the Fire under Heaven that illuminates the entirety). You are not an isolated point, but an interconnected node of the cosmic network. By acting in an "open" and transparent manner, you send waves of coherence that harmoniously synchronize your surroundings with your intentions.
