Hexagram 30Fire (Adherence)
Upper : Fire (Li) - ☲Lower : Fire (Li) - ☲
"The fire that adheres. Perseverance is advantageous. It brings success. Tending the cow brings fortune."
The doubled Fire is extreme clarity, luminous intelligence. Yet fire cannot exist by itself: it absolutely requires a fuel to which it can adhere (adherence). Similarly, human intelligence can only shine if it is anchored in earthly reality. The cow symbolizes docility and material grounding. Without this docile foundation, the fire of the spirit blazes and consumes itself too swiftly.

The radiance should not be a fleeting flash, but a constant light sustained by a just life.
It is the power of Consciousness (the light). But consciousness alone is blinding and sterile if it is not connected to the heart and body (the grounding). Pure intellectuals or seekers of disembodied spirituality burn their energy and end in ashes. To radiate enduringly, you must accept your share of dependence on the material world, on others, and on your own biological roots. Accept being human to become divine.
It is the nature of Electromagnetism (the Light). A photon has no rest mass; it 'exists' only in its eternal motion and interaction with physical matter. Quantum clarity (Information) requires the material substrate to collapse into measurable reality. The mind needs matter to experience itself.
