"The preponderance of the great. The ridgepole bends. It is advantageous to have somewhere to go. Success."
The hexagram is heavy at the center (4 Yang lines) and weak at the extremities (2 Yin lines). It is the image of a main beam bowing under excessive weight. The situation is exceptional, overwhelming, on the brink of collapse. This is not the time for hesitation or unnecessary consolidation: extraordinary measures must be taken, decisive action must be employed to escape the danger zone before the collapse.
"The lake rises above the trees: the image of the preponderance of the great. Thus the noble man, if he finds himself alone, is without worry, and if he must renounce the world, he is without apprehension."
The lake overflows and inundates the trees. In the face of a deluge, fear is futile. One must have the courage to make radical decisions, even at the risk of being completely misunderstood or alone.
